I keep these photos in my mirror as a reminder of the places I have been. My parents taught me when I was young that travel is an important part of life. I spent three months travelling across america with some buddies. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I always felt I had to explore the continent I lived on before I explore others. The first photo was taken after a long drive over night, through the prairies, the sun was coming up and we were just approaching the rockies. The second picture was taken as I was driving on the San Francisco Bay Bridge. I spent the day there with Greg walking around killing time. I would have loved to stay there longer.

I hope to go to South America, we'll see how long that takes to happen.

When I made this blog, I was in a different place. I was just handed a big fine, which at the time was a lot more than I could handle. I didn't really have much going for me, other than the fact I had some pretty solid friends. I made some stupid choices, I regretted a lot of them, but at the same time understand that it made me who I am today.

I haven't posted in a while. I don't know if its because my life has become a lot less exciting lately, or if I am just not as amped on this idea of talking about myself. I have been feeling really uncreative lately. I want to start on some projects soon, but it seems like everything I want to do is 4 hours away. I hate living in this apartment, everything just feels so temporary. I know that I am not going to live here forever, so I don't invest anytime into things.
I have barely even skated this year. As weird as it is to say, you know that saying "I hate myself when I'm not skateboarding" I think its rings true for me. I bought new wheels a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't even skated them yet. I have a million excuses as to why I haven't gone skating, but really it comes down to me being a complete dick sucker. I hate myself.
I found on someones blog, they had posted a list of thirty dates. Each day had a different item that you were supposed to post. I figured it was a good way to end this dry spell.

DAY 1:

01. I chipped my front tooth when I was younger, it was repaired, and unnoticeable now.
02. I grew up in a very christian home.
03. I am technically an international criminal, though I have no problems getting across the border.
04. I once hitch hiked from Regina to Toronto.
05. I am currently living in an unfinished basement.
06. The last car I had didn't lock, and started with a screwdriver.
07. I look mostly for good skin in girls.
08. In the last year I put 50,000kms on my car.
09. I hate the idea of 19+ shows.
10. Big fan of The Office.
11. I am prejudice toward fat people, but so is my mom.
12. I boiled a cat once, people still talk about it, like its a big deal.

14. I had Twitter before I had Facebook.
15. I have been journaling in one form or another since I was 15. Livejournal for the win.

For years Carry On has been one of my favorite bands, but the lyrics just seem to ring more and more true as the time goes on. This is a song I can relate to.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who even gives a fuck. I watch it fall apart and I want to build it up , but you just turn away. I can't do this by myself so look for other ways. I'm trying to get it out of this rut. The dust has built for too long. If this means so much more than words, than show me sign and quit dropping the lines. Staying positive was just a setup so you could take the punch when they let you down. Its where we're heading. So X your fist, show me what's left inside. I'm so sick of everyone's excuses I want to tear them down. I've been let down before but never again. I wont buy into your shit I'll just believe in my friends. If that's something that you don't understand than just sit back and watch it fall apart again

So I finally started working on the Valiant I bought last summer. I ripped out the seats, and ripped up the floor. There are some pretty big holes I need to patch. I haven't really done much of this kind of work before. I am stoked to learn and teach myself.
As I was cutting out all the rust, I accidentally cut the gas line. Total bummer, I can't really move it until I fix that. Whatever, more experience, I guess.

So I have been looking back in my old Live Journal. I posted this about 3 years ago. I still remember who each one of these is about, and for the most part they wouldn't change much if I had posted this today.

1. Our plans never work out, so we stopped planning. Some how playing it by ear always works out for the better. I hold you close, you know that. Who knew the 'flip kid' would be one of my closest friends.

2. We used to hangout everyday, now I barely see you, and when I do its never the same. I can't wait for you to come home this summer, I know we will pick up where we left off. I still think you rule hard.

3. For some reason I always feel comfortable telling you anything. We have sat in my car for hours talking in front of your house. You are a solid dude, I always know that when I come home you will drop everything to hangout with me.

4. We have broken so many laws together, but always know when to stop. I like staying at your house, but only when your mom is at work. I disagree with people when they say you need to grow up. You need to think about more than just yourself. I can always count on you for a good time.

5. You are a great dude. I love it when you smile, but hate it when you are pissed. Luckily, you are most smiley when we are together. We have had many adventures, and many more to come. I want to meet your grandpa one day soon, because I hear so much about him.

6. I never now what 'cool new thing' you are going to be hyped on next. You have a lot of cool ideas, you just need to follow through on more things. I feel like when I am with you we are unstoppable, but when apart I feel like we are barely friends.

7. You moved away from this boring little town. I hope you have found yourself, I hope you found what you were looking for. I want you to move back soon. When we are together we do some stupid stuff, and piss off your sister. I often forget we have matching tattoos.

8. To be honest, I was a little skeptical of living with you. WOW was I wrong! You are my favorite roommate, You always wanna hangout or do something. You got me into graffiti, too bad I am terrible. I just wish I could beat you at more video games.

9. You will always be a liar, I still can't trust you. I still love seeing you and hanging out with you, cause we always have a good laugh. I just think its time to find a real job.

10. I rarely see you, and you live just across the city. We used to have good talks in your sunfire, but now I just feel like you are too mature for me. We need to hangout soon, cause I miss you.

So Life has me in an awkward spot. I hate Ottawa. Its a city where nothing happens. I like being in the GTA, I have so many friends here, there are shows, there things happening. I have been back in Uxbridge for the last few months, just kickin' it like I used to. Bryaden, Eric and I hang out almost everyday. Ryan is abroad with Joey, doing his thing. It will be sweet when he gets back, but for the time being, I am looking for a construction job here in the GTA. I actually liked working for Graydex last summer, I worked with good guys, and made good money. I don't want to work construction for the rest of my life, but its alright for where I am now. I want to save so much money this summer, I want to be putting a down payment on a house this time next year.
I want to be doing my own thing, but right now I'm losing my motivation.

Ryan and I just finished dropping Andy Shanks off at the airport hotel. It was awesome coming home the past few days and seeing that dude on the couch. I wish he could have been around just for a few days longer, or had come on a weekend when Ryan and I both weren't working. I didn't think about it at the time, but looking back now, I feel kind of bad that we just left Andy on the couch all day while we went to work. I feel like we were cheated by time, or something. We skated a bunch... actually all we did was skate. I was super stoked, and had an awesome week. I wish Andy was just around more. The Tower

Taylor and I climbed the tower last night. I had such an uncomfortable feeling the whole time. I wasn't scared or nervous, I was just uneasy. Something felt almost supernatural... almost. The wind was the strong and the top lights were out. I debated the existence of a god during the climb down, something I hadn't done since high school. The view from the top is unreal, there was no way for me to capture it all. You just have to go up and experience it. Its something I wish I could share with more people. Taylor and I talked a lot on the car ride home about the new world order and the possibilities of it being real. Its just so hard for me to wrap my mind around world domination, I don't understand how a select group of people could want to take over the world. I care about myself, and I do what I do, world domination is the last thing on my list, but as history teaches us world domination is something a lot of leaders desire. Canada is weak.

Last night Eric Taylor and I drove to Toronto to see The Appleseed Cast. Probably the highlight of the month. That band is so tight, and sound so incredibly good. I was blown away. The set was an hour and a half, and it seemed like 20minutes. Getting home at 2:00am and waking up at 6:00am was a bit of a chore, but totally worth it. I am still amped.

520000 Km's is a good haul. Its looking like the Volvo may come to an end very very shortly. It will become another field car full of lost memories. We'll smash it up this summer, maybe take it off a jump or two. It deserves a great finally. It needs it. So many years, so many great moments.

So sometime this week I will be picking this bad boy up, and driving it home. It still hasn't really sunk in yet that this is my car. Probably because its still sitting in the lot where I bought it, and not in my driveway. A car says so much about a person, I'm not sure if this car totally reflects who I am. Don't get me wrong, I think its a great car, and I can't wait to sort out the paper work so I can drive it. Its just, so average. I guess I just have to start building a relationship with the car, give it character, make memories, and let the car grow on me.

Today I printed my first two colour image. It was fairly successful. I still need to tweak it a little to get it perfect, but I am happy with the way things turned out. The other night Madi invited some people over for a camp fire in her backyard. Eric Hall, Ryan and I got there early and started things up. We built a nice size fire that was raging pretty well. Enjoying ourselves, and getting rowdy. We went around her yard looking for every possible thing we could burn. Then we look down the road and see what we think is a bus, and all start laughing, "What is that thing, does Katie drive a bus by any chance?"
We are all dumbfounded when we realize it was a fire truck, followed by two police cruizers. A few firemen jump out of their truck and slowly start walking towards the fire. We all just sort of look at each other, and continue to enjoy the warmth of the fire. Without any words exchanged they just knock over our fire and start throwing snow on it. Madi decides to take care of the situation and starts talking to the police. Eric Hall starts heckling the firemen, who have been spraying down our fire for the past 5 minutes. "Hey man, I think its out" "Dude its totally out" "Now thats just over kill" The fire department give us a stern warning and left. Then our friends showed up.

I was on my way to Erics house, when I took this picture. The sun was low and the road was flooded. I stopped for a while just to enjoy the scenery. Whats the point of living in the middle of no where if you don't take the time everyonce and a while to enjoy the sights and sounds. I am happy with where I am in life, only because I know I am on my way up.

I have found myself becoming comfortable with the standard routine. I don't mind waking up at 6:00 every morning. I don't mind working a full day. I feel more productive and ambitious, when I come home from work than I did when I would sit around all day. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish in the next few weeks. I want to get them done quick.
Also,
I am sick of sitting around peoples homes. I am over it. I want to be surrounded by people that inspire me, I want to be surrounded by people that motivate me. I am getting sick of watching people drink beer and smoke pot. I am becoming worn out to the things around me.

EDIT: This does not include Erics house. Eric you motivate me.

So Ryan and I made a Screen Press today. It was good times. It felt really good to be productive, and build something cool. Its still going to be a while before we can start printing shirts, but its definitely a step in the right direction. Next step will be a light table.

So AMBUSH! were in town last night. It was good to see them and hang out with. Its been a while since I last saw them. I was stoked when they told me they played 250 shows in the last 9 months. Thats a lot for an unknown band. Good for them.
